Entries usually total between 55 and 65, with Training, Preliminary, Intermediate and Intermediate II, and draws from most western states and British Columbia and Alberta in Canada. There are usually singles, pairs and tandems/multiples entered, and a number of VSEs competing at all levels. The terrain is flat to hilly in hay fields and forest with good track through the woods. The obstacles are solid, varied in type, and there are two water obstacles. Weather in July is usually pleasant, but can be hot, and rain is not unexpected.
