ADS Youth Whips Driving Program Mission:
To develop character, confidence, knowledge, and camaraderie through equine care and learning the sport of driving.
The ADS is pleased to announcethe launch of its newest program, the ADS Youth Whips Driving Club. This club was created by ADS member Karen Cherry, who modeled this after the successful Florida Whips Youth Driving Clinics that she operates in the Southwest Region. This program is intended to educate young drivers on safe driving and horsemanship practices, while recognizing their efforts to work through the levels.
Prior to applying for Level 1, the applicant must:
- Attend in person at least two Club, ADS or USEF driving clinics or camps.
- Complete FEI Campus courses: Basic Hoof Care and Grooming Equine. Certificates of completion must be submitted when participant registers for evaluation.
- Be able to drive their equine independently (a knowledgeable adult 21 or over must be on vehicle).
All testing requirements and program information is listed in the menu to the side of this webpage.
The ADS Board has approved the funding to hold one examination per year in each of the ADS Regions. Each examination will be operated as an ADS Educational Event.
Level One was launched on November 22, 2025, and two more levels are in the works.
This program is open to ADS members from the ages of 8-21 and is FREE.
Thank you to the Carriage Association of America for donating copies of their book, Drive Smartly, Drive Safely, so that every applicant may receive a copy.
