Shelburne Farms in Shelburne, Vermont is a 1500-acre estate originally owned and built by the Vanderbilt-Webb family in the 1920‘s. The grounds were designed by Frederick Law Olmstead (who also "did" Central Park) and contain large barns and outbuildings in the "chateau" style, a working dairy farm, and lots of livestock. The farm has been a public trust for many years and is open to the public year round. The famous Shelburne Inn, the former family residence, sits on a hill with a sweeping view of Lake Champlain and New York‘s Adirondack Mountains beyond. Meach Cove Farms adjacent to Shelburne is a similar estate with dirt roads, farm fields and trails along the big lake. Stabling is available at Meach Cove. If this sounds like the perfect place to ride or drive a carriage in style, it is!    Various Weblinks -  Shelburne Farms Shelburne Map Link Meach Cove Farms Meach Cove Map Link  September 8-14 (Fri-Thur)

Come join us September 9th for a continuous drive as well as a trail ride/drive for those not participating in the continuous drive. Held at one of the most beautiful horse properties in the country, Spurwink boasts beautiful oceanside views, forest paths, and fields galore. Enjoy a trot through the very old apple orchards as well. This event fills quickly, so get those entries in. For entries go to: http://mainedrivingclub.org/index.html Open Date: Now Close Date: 9/4/2023 Organizer/Secretary: Anna Bigelow mainedrivingclub@gmail.com 207-798-2616 Accepting Entries by: Mail To: Anna Bigelow PO Box 249 Topsham, ME 04086 Entries must be received by the close date: 9/4/2023. Complete entries prioritized over incomplete entries. Electronic entries recommended. Competitors are welcome to arrive after 8:30 a.m. The first drive will be at 9:30am. Please be sure to include your email in your entry, so we can reach you with information about the order of go, which will be dependent on the number of people participating in the continuous drive vs those just participating in the trail ride/drive. Our goal is to give people enough time to walk the obstacles who are participating in the continuous drive. Riders will likely go at the end of the order of go, unless planning to go out with a specific driver participating in the trail drive. Please indicate this on entry form. Note: Trail is part of continuous drive. Briefing: Participants will receive briefing information via email prior to a Zoom meeting, 9/7 at 6 p.m. Type of Event: This is a casual continuous drive and a trail ride/drive for those who do not wish to do obstacles and cones. Parking: Parking is limited. Please indicate on your entry form if you are trailering in with another participant and the name of that participant. Course: Footing: grass, dirt, fields, wooded trails, roads.
